Our mission & history

Quality should be affordable

Younger Gunworks was founded on Henry Ford’s principle. This isn’t a high-end flashy location with everything — including the owners — hidden behind glass. We want to hear about your next adventure and help you gear up to make it come true.

Who we are

A veteran, a servant’s heart, and one busy counter

The partners of Younger Gunworks each bring a unique set of skills and experiences to the table — which makes the team much more than the sum of its parts. We’re a Certified Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business that loves sharing the Gospel, gets excited about guns, and carries deep gratitude for the freedoms we’re blessed to have.

Fun fact: we’re both left-handed. Southpaws welcome — everyone else too.

Our team

The people behind the counter

Mike Wolbrink

Founder · Airborne Ranger, 82nd Airborne Division

Mike is a patriot and servant leader — an Airborne Ranger who served multiple combat tours in Panama and Iraq with the 82nd Airborne Division, mustard stain on his jump wings and all. A serial entrepreneur, he founded Azule Management a decade before YGW; it was recognized by the Small Business Administration as one of the top veteran-owned companies in the country and helped thousands of veterans find employment.

Mike holds a psychology degree from Wheaton College and is a licensed pastor with The River International. Off the clock you’ll find him in Bible studies, learning new technology, and traveling with his family.

Jody Younger

Co-Owner · Laser Studio Lead

Jody enjoys serving others and being creative, and is passionate about figuring stuff out — in an orderly and determined fashion. She spent more than 20 years serving people working their way out of substance-abuse and mental-health struggles, then several years creating employment opportunities for veterans and consulting for behavioral-health businesses.

Jody loves Jesus, gardening, traveling, time with her two adult children, and is always on a quest to learn something new. Most of the lasered pieces in our shop pass through her hands first.

Staying sharp

An industry that never sits still

Gun laws, rules and interpretations change constantly — a part that’s legal today can fall under a different form of registration tomorrow. We’re not lawyers and don’t pretend to be, but we work hard to stay informed and bring you updates as we get them. That’s a big part of why our newsletter exists.

We also love bringing new technology to our corner of Minnesota. Just as WD-40 spun out of the space program, innovations keep making shooting more economical and more fun — when we find one we personally use and endorse (like the MantisX trainer), we put it on the counter so you can try it.

When you work with YGW, you get a team dedicated to bringing you the best we can, every day — some consistency in a sea of change.
