Serving Mankato, Minnesota
Gun shop and gunsmith serving Mankato, Minnesota
Mankato shooters aren't short on places to buy gear — Scheels at River Hills Mall and Fleet Farm on Premier Drive cover the basics well. What the big stores mostly don't offer is bench work: refinishing a rifle in the Cerakote color you actually want, engraving a slide, tuning a trigger, or receiving a pistol you bought online for a simple flat-rate transfer. That's the work Younger Gunworks was built for, about 27 miles northeast of Mankato in Le Center — up US-169 to St. Peter, then east on Highway 99, roughly 35 minutes door to door.
The drive takes you into country many Mankato hunters already know. Swan Lake, the sprawling prairie marsh west of St. Peter, is one of the state's storied waterfowl waters, and Le Sueur County's lake country — Lake Washington and the lakes around Cleveland and Le Center — lies right along Highway 99. Younger Gunworks sits across from the county fairgrounds at the far end of that route: a certified Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business, veteran and woman owned, founded by an Airborne Ranger who served combat tours with the 82nd Airborne Division. The counter service matches the résumé — plain answers, fair prices, no pressure.
For Mankato customers
The work that fills our bench
Here's what Mankato and Blue Earth County customers most often make the Highway 99 drive for:
- FFL transfers — $30 flat. Buy from GunBroker or any online retailer, have it shipped to us, and we'll call you the day it arrives.
- Suppressor sales. Our in-store Silencer Shop kiosk and fingerprinting make the ATF paperwork about as painless as it gets; suppressors bought through an outside dealer transfer through us for $100.
- Cerakote custom coating. The "Color My Gun" service applies durable H-Series Cerakote in whatever color or pattern you pick — a finish you won't find on a rack.
- Laser engraving. Fiber and CO2 lasers let us "tattoo your gun" — slides, receivers, bolt handles — plus tumblers, signs and leather patches.
- Gunsmithing and ultrasonic cleaning. Trigger work, scope mounting and a deep ultrasonic clean with a full function check and optional test fire before your gun goes back in the safe for the season.
- Gun sales and special orders. Around 150 firearms in the store and 50-plus wholesalers behind them, so special orders typically land in two to three shipping days.
- Awards for law enforcement, fire and EMS. Blue Label duty-purchase programs, retirement plaques, challenge-coin displays and memorial keepsakes for departments across the greater Mankato area.
