Shakopee sits on the south bank of the Minnesota River as the county seat of Scott County, home to more than 43,000 people — plenty of them hunters, shooters, and families with a deer rifle or two in the safe. If you have ever headed south on US-169 past the Louisville Swamp unit of the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge, you were already pointed our way: Younger Gunworks is about 38 miles down the road in Le Center, right on Highway 99 across from the Le Sueur County Fairgrounds.
Shakopee has gun counters of its own, and we will not pretend otherwise. What brings Shakopee folks down MN-21 through New Prague and Montgomery is the work you cannot get just anywhere: Cerakote coating and laser engraving done in-house, a Silencer Shop kiosk with fingerprinting on site, honest gunsmithing, and a veteran-owned counter where nobody rushes you. It is about 45 minutes of easy rural highway — often quicker than crossing the metro on a Saturday, and a nicer drive besides.
For Shakopee customers
The work that fills our bench
Here is what Shakopee customers most often come through the door for:
- FFL transfers — $30 flat. Buy from any online retailer or auction site, have it shipped to us, and we will call you the moment it arrives.
- Special orders in 2–3 shipping days. We keep around 150 firearms in the store and order from more than 50 wholesalers, so if it is not on the rack we can usually have it fast.
- Suppressors through our Silencer Shop kiosk. Fingerprinting happens right in the store, so one trip covers the paperwork; if you bought elsewhere, we handle outside FFL/SOT suppressor transfers for $100.
- Cerakote H-Series coating. Our Color My Gun service refinishes worn duty guns and hunting rifles — or gives a new one a look that is yours alone.
- Fiber and CO2 laser engraving. Tattoo Your Gun, or have us laser plaques, tumblers, leather patches, and memorial keepsakes for gifts.
- Gunsmithing and trigger work. Repairs on common makes and models, plus scope and optic sales with proper mounting before you leave.
- Ultrasonic gun cleaning. A deep clean with a function check and optional test fire — good medicine for a duck gun after a wet fall in the Louisville Swamp.
- Blue Label and department awards. Duty-purchase pricing for law enforcement, and lasered retirement plaques and challenge-coin displays for police, fire, and EMS departments across Scott County.
